tawâw school
Project Highlight: tawâw school
North Regina
Pronounced tah-WOW, tawâw is a Cree word meaning “come in, you’re welcome; there’s room.” The name reflects the spirit of this new joint-use school, created to bring students, families, and the community together in one modern, inclusive environment.
The new facility unites two former elementary schools into one state-of-the-art building designed to meet the evolving needs of the community. Serving students from Kindergarten to Grade 8, tawâw school will welcome approximately 900 students from both the Regina Public School Board and the Regina Catholic School Division. While students will learn in separate classrooms, they will share thoughtfully designed common spaces that support connection and collaboration.
In addition to modern classrooms, the school features a shared community space and kitchen, as well as a child care centre with capacity for 51 children. The building was also designed with features that support classroom complexity, helping create a learning environment that is flexible, functional, and future-focused.
The Government of Saskatchewan contributed $63.3 million toward the construction of the new joint-use facility, with additional funding for the community space provided by the City of Regina.
Spaces Inc. was thrilled to be included in this meaningful project and to help bring this welcoming, community-centred vision to life.
