Sooke Library | Vancouver Island
Project Spotlight: Sooke Library | Vancouver Island Regional Library
Now open to the public, the new Sooke Library stands as a vibrant community landmark - an inspiring destination designed for learning, connection, and discovery.
Spaces Inc. played a pivotal role in bringing this project to life, providing comprehensive space planning, custom shelving solutions, and thoughtfully curated furniture throughout the facility.
Scope & Execution
The vision for the new library went far beyond meeting operational needs - it was about creating a space that feels warm, inviting, and intuitive for visitors of all ages. Every element, from the placement of shelving to the style of seating, was chosen to encourage exploration, comfort, and engagement.
A hallmark of this project was the highly collaborative delivery approach. All furnishings and shelving were coordinated and managed directly through the general contractor, ensuring seamless communication and cohesive execution. This integrated process allowed Spaces Inc. to work closely with stakeholders to align every design decision with the broader architectural and community vision.
The Result
The completed 13,500-square-foot facility more than doubles the collection size of the former branch, offering a bright, modern environment filled with natural materials and sustainable design features. Among its many amenities are a children’s area, fireplace lounge, study and meeting rooms, a makerspace equipped with a 3D printer, and EV charging stations.
Built in alignment with the Wood First Initiative, the library celebrates both sustainability and craftsmanship, reflecting the values and aspirations of the growing Sooke community.
The result is more than a library - it’s a thoughtfully designed hub that blends function and beauty, inviting people to gather, read, learn, and connect. Spaces Inc. is proud to have contributed to the creation of this lasting community cornerstone.
