Project Spotlight: Mitchell Elementary School Addition

$4.5 Million Addition

To support the growing communities of Mitchell, Manitoba, and the surrounding area, the Hanover School Division undertook a significant expansion of Mitchell Elementary School. The 11,142-square-foot addition features five new classrooms, a learning commons, a multi-purpose room, an entrance vestibule, washrooms, and service spaces.

​

Renovations to the existing school were also completed to expand and modernize the kindergarten classrooms, upgrade administration and staff areas, and consolidate educational support and resource spaces to improve efficiency and collaboration.

​

The project team worked closely with the Hanover School Division to identify priorities and establish a scope that met the school’s needs while staying within budget. Consultation sessions with administration, teachers, and educational support staff helped ensure the design supported the school’s programming and learning goals.

​

The project achieved LEED Silver certification and was carefully planned and constructed in phases to allow the school to remain operational throughout.
