Project Spotlight: Divine Mercy School (K–6)

Divine Mercy School, part of Edmonton Catholic Schools, brings a vibrant new learning environment to southeast Edmonton, accommodating up to 650 students. Its exterior design is both simple and engaging - brightly colored metal panels add energy and warmth, reflecting the growing neighborhood’s youthful spirit.

Inside, the design centers on play, discovery, and comfort. Scaled thoughtfully for young learners, the interior uses warm, welcoming materials to create inviting spaces that encourage curiosity and collaboration. Highlights include an outdoor rooftop classroom and flexible learning zones that support 21st-century education.

Developed through a Construction Management (CM) approach, the project balanced innovation and practicality, achieving a modern, faith-based school within a standard footprint and budget. A major design goal was to integrate “wow” zones and faith-centered spaces that would inspire students, educators, and the wider community.

​

Working closely with project partners, the design team introduced creative features such as a “WOW” space tucked beneath the central learning stair, a second-floor outdoor patio classroom, and other dynamic learning areas. These elements enrich both the educational experience and the sense of community throughout the school.

Spaces Inc proudly supplied the school’s furnishings, including soft seating, library shelving, student desks and chairs, activity tables, and more - helping bring this inspiring new learning environment to life.
